Several local organizations assisted Selma City Councilman Clay Carmichael in cleaning Bloch Park and Valley Creek Park on Feb. 17.
Morgan Academy students, Southside High students, Snow’s Cleaning Service, councilwoman Jannie Thomas, Blue Jean Church and Drug Free Communities of Dallas County (DFCDC) all participated in the cleanup under cold conditions.
The two parks are in Ward 3, Carmichael’s District.
“I am overwhelmed by your support and looking forward to more productive Saturdays this spring as we improve this beautiful playground and green space,” Carmichael said. “A big thanks to those who came out and supported our Bloch Park and Valley Creek Park cleanup.”
Morgan Academy released a statement on its Student Government Association members for volunteering: “we are so thankful for this group of students who are dedicated to community service and Kim Jones for guiding them.”
Jerria Martin, DFCDC Executive Director, said she enjoyed the cleanup.
“We had an amazing time helping council members Clay Carmichael and Jannie Thomas with their community project. It takes a village to keep Selma clean,” Martin said.
