The Alabama State Conference of the NAACP will have a Next Generation Powering Democracy Youth March on Sunday at noon at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
State NAACP officials said the goal is getting the youth to embrace as future leaders in America. Four Foot Soldiers Scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors over the weekend. One of the scholarship requirements was writing a 500-word essay on “How did the Civil Rights Movement impact racial discrimination and injustice and to what extent, was it successful?”
“We are excited to engage our youth to keep the torch burning and continue to march on in the struggle for fairness,” Alabama NAACP President and National NAACP Board Member Benard Simelton said.
