William Lumpkin wins Dallas County Commission seat

Orrville City Councilman William Lumpkin defeated Mark Neely to become Dallas County Commissioner on Super Tuesday.
Lumpkin won with 58 percent of the vote, compared to Neely’s 42 percent. Lumpkin had 911 votes, with Neely at 658 votes.
“I feel good about getting elected Dallas County Commissioner,” Lumpkin said. “I put God first and he’s my pilot. I’m the co-pilot. I thank my family and campaign workers. Selma needs help and we can fix it.”
Two incumbent Dallas County Commissioners, Vivian Rogers and Connel Towns Sr., were both re-elected.
Rogers won with 77 percent of the vote, defeating Scott Swanson and Moses Thomas. Rogers had 718 votes, compared to Swanson’s 137 and Thomas’ 77.
Rogers said she’s happy to remain in office.
Towns defeated former Dallas County Commissioner Valerie Reuben, with 60 percent of the vote. Towns had 922 votes, compared to Reuben’s 624.
Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, who ran unopposed praised the work of the polling officials.
“The election officials did a great job,” Nunn said. “Dallas County polling officials worked very hard to a ensure a fair election among local residents.”
