U.S. Rep. Sewell remains Democratic nominee

U,S, Rep. Terri Sewell expressed satisfaction over retaining the Democrat party nomination for to the seventh congressional district that includes Dallas County.
Sewell defeated Christopher Davis in a Democrat primary, getting 94 percent of the vote. Sewell had 57,493 votes. The Selma native will face Republican Robin Litaker of Homewood in the Nov. 5 general election. Sewell is going for her eighth term.
“While we celebrate our victory, we know that our fight is not over. There is too much at stake for us to be on the sidelines. We have to keep working to lower costs and grow our economy. We have to keep working to make healthcare more affordable. We have to keep working to make our communities safer. And we have to protect our democracy and our sacred right to vote from those who seek to take us back. I look forward to us working together as we march toward November and victory. Thank you again for your support. It is an honor to represent you in Congress, and I look forward to the work that lies ahead.”
Sewell spoke at the Bridge Crossing Jubilee on March 3.
