A man was sentenced to prison for murder and assault on March 28.
According to the Dallas County Court System, Juantonio Cosby received a five-year prison sentence for a nightclub shooting in 2017. Cosby was found guilty by a Dallas County Grand Jury on Oct. 26.
Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Marvin Wiggins sentenced Cosby to a 20-year prison sentence, with five years of prison time to serve. Cosby was also sentenced to 10 years for an assault that also resulted from the shooting.
Last year, co-defendant, Kenneth Ingram pled guilty to his part in the events that killed Shykereya Leggett and injured Eddie Williams back on Oct. 22, 2017. The two victims were outside of the Prime Ultra Lounge in Selma at the time of the shooting.
The case had issues of accomplice liability and complicity. Cosby was identified as a shooter alongside his co-defendant after they returned to the premises of the club after being previously escorted out of the establishment after a fight. Under this theory, all parties involved with the criminal activity can be charged in the commission of the crimes that result.
