EF-1 tornado touches down in northern Dallas County

The National Weather Service has reported that an EF-1 tornado struck along the Dallas-Chilton county line late Tuesday night after survey crews inspected the damage Wednesday morning.
According to a statement released Wednesday morning, the NWS survey team has found EF-1 damage near and west of Plantersville.
A severe thunderstorm was warned for a possible tornado at 10:24 p.m. Tuesday night, and radar appeared to show a debris indication shortly after the warning was issued.
According to reader reports, numerous trees were downed due to the storm especially near the new Dollar General in Plantersville and along County Roads 26 and 16.
Dallas County High School Principal Erika D. Crum said, “The school did not have any damage from the storm.”
Dallas County Emergency Management Agency Director Toya Crousoe said downed trees occurred at County Road 80, County Road 182, County Road 291 and County Road 560, and down power lines were reported on Alabama 22N at the Dallas/Chilton County Line.
