A pair of shootings on Saturday night involving juveniles has forced Selma City Schools to put Selma High School and Saints Virtual Academy/Alternative School on virtual learning until the incident is resolved.
According to the Selma Police Department, two teens were shot over the weekend on the 1500 block of Marie Foster Street. A 17 year old teen was critically injured in a shooting on April 26. An 18 year old was shot in the foot at the same block 24 hours later.
“The school was closed because of an incident involving a student being shot over the weekend, they were being cautious,” Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said.
The SPD will beef up controls at the schools, something Byrd wants.
