City of Selma Parks and Recreation director Dr. Denisha Hendricks was recently appointed Athletic Director at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Hendricks will officially start at Johnson C. Smith on May 1. She will also serve as a visiting associate professor of sport management.
This will be Hendricks’ second opportunity to work at Johnson C. Smith. Hendricks was an assistant athletic director, senior woman administrator, assistant professor and interim department chair.
“I am beyond excited returning back to Johnson C. Smith,” Hendricks said.
Hendricks’ mother, Dr. Constance Hendricks, said she is beyond proud of her daughter’s chance on the big stage.
“I am so excited to see what her next journey reveals — each chapter of her career has been exciting and provided her with opportunities to make that university or organization a ‘bit’ better because she was there,” Constance Hendricks said. “I pray that she always remembers whose and who she is and who is the source of her success.”
Hendricks served in many roles at Gamma Alpha Alpha Zeta, the Dallas County Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Hendricks is the international executive board chair of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and was first vice president.
