An Editorial Opinion of The Selma Times-Journal
It appears like everyone from Selma to Los Angeles to New York are catching Asher fever.
Asher HaVon has been making waves on the NBC talent show “The Voice.” It was exciting to see him get selected to be on the show, but now, he has made it all the way to season finale.
We’re sure there’s gonna be a few watch parties on Monday night tuned to WSFA Channel 12 to see him. If you’re not at one of the parties, you might want to tune in to see how one of our own fares.
So far, voters have fallen in love with HaVon. And Asher sure hasn’t forgotten his roots. Multiple times, he’s talked about his hometown and how it has shaped him into the person and performer he is.
“Selma has given me a foundation that I don’t believe I would have gotten anywhere else. The people that are in Selma understand what it means to come from small beginnings and face the world. She’s a beautiful example on how to handle adversity gracefully and rise above it, and still stand. And as an artist, every time I stand on stage, I just feel like the strength that Selma has taught me always shows up and (will) catapult me forward.”
How can you not like a guy like that?
Best wishes to you Asher! No matter how the finals go, we are so proud of you, and we are all behind you!
