Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth, and Reconciliation SCNTR Executive Director Attorney Ainka Jackson will be the Co-Executive Director of the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee.
Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee officials made the announcement on Wednesday.
“We are thrilled to have Ainka Jackson join us as Co-Executive Director of the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee,” Board Chair of the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee Rebecca Marion said. “Her passion for civil rights and social justice, coupled with her experience and expertise, make her the perfect person for this role. We look forward to working with her to make the 60th Commemoration Jubilee the best yet.”
Jackson has worked with the Jubilee in previous years, assisting with fundraising and helping to manage resources for the Jubilee for the past few years. She also helped plan events annually at the Jubilee and with partners for more smooth execution of events.
“So often people see Selma as just a symbol and not a city, part of my goal as Co-Excecutive Director is to preserve the legacy of the Jubilee while leveraging the Jubilee to be helpful to Selma beyond the wonderful taxes and tourism it already inspires,” Jackson said. “I want Selma, the symbol and the city to align as one as we seek to be a model of the Beloved Community. It’s imperative that we all work together to accomplish this.”
Jackson will continue to oversee the SCNTR.
