Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. placed Selma Assistant Police Chief Natasha Fowlkes on Administrative Leave with Pay Wednesday because of an internal investigation.
In order to maintain a high level of integrity and transparency, an outside
agency will lead the investigation. This investigation is on-going and in the preliminary
stages at this time.
The statement says Fowlkes is out of possible contacts within the Selma Police Department
Fowlkes made history as the first black woman named captain in the SPD. Fowlkes was most recently named the acting police chief when Perkins put Police Chief Kenta Fulford on administrative leave at the end of April.
