Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. announced Thursday a set of community meetings at various elementary schools in July.
But the first meeting Perkins will have is Monday at 6 p.m. as he and councilmen Michael Johnson and Atkin Jemison with the rest of the city council at City Hall.
Perkins and the Department Heads of Municipal Government invite the citizens to community meetings. Critical information will be shared with Department Heads about their performance and goals.
“It is extremely important for citizens to become informed about the great progress and great challenges we are faced within our community,” Perkins said. “I strongly encourage all citizens to please take advantage of this opportunity to get first-hand information from the people who are doing the work and not from social media keyboard artists.”
Here are the series of meeting dates:
-July 2, 5:30 p.m., Payne Elementary School.
-July 11, 5:30 p.m., Sophia P. Kingston Elementary School.
-July 16, 5:30 p.m., Meadowview Elementary School.
-July 25, 5:30 p.m., McRae-Gaines Learning Center.
-July 30, 5:30 p.m., Carl C. Morgan Convention Center. ,
