Singer Asher HaVon set the standard for never forgetting your hometown roots.
A month after winning season 25 of NBC’s “The Voice,” HaVon returned to Selma for a concert, parade and autograph session. We admired HaVon for taking the time to thank Selma for supporting his career, especially on a hot and humid day. We were impressed that HaVon thanked his former teachers in elementary, middle and high school for guiding him down the right path.
“I am so glad to be back in Selma,” HaVon said. “I am forever grateful, forever inspired, and forever blessed to call Selma my home.”
HaVon inspired the youth with singing aspirations to work hard and never give up, which we enjoyed hearing.
During his autograph session, HaVon gave a shoutout to The Selma Times-Journal for its stellar coverage of his journey through his victory on “The Voice.” While we appreciated the compliment, we take pride in writing about our local residents reaching the big time.
We look forward to writing more stories about Asher HaVon as he reaches the top of the music industry in the future.
