The Fourth of July will be celebrated in Selma and Dallas County a day before the official holiday and we’re fine with that.
The City of Selma began its five-day Independence Day celebration Wednesday night with a downtown Street Fair at Riverfront Park and Water Avenue, starting at 8 p.m.
Valley Grande’s annual fireworks show was held Wednesday night at the city ballpark.
Orrville closes the fireworks in Dallas County on Independence Day at 8 p.m. at the Orrville Community Center.
We applaud Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr, Selma City Council, City of Selma planning and development director Danielle Wooten, Valley Grande Mayor Wayne Labbe, Valley Grande City Council especially Councilwoman Sara Day, Orrville Mayor Louvenia Lumpkin and Orrville City Council for putting together strong shows for the residents to enjoy.
The Dallas County Commission deserves a pat on the back for voting to close the Dallas County Courthouse on July 5. The Selma City Council followed suit to close City Hall.
We want everyone to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday weekend, but be safe and responsible doing so.
