The City of Valley Grande overcame an accident near the intersection of Highway 22 and County Road 16 to produce a stellar fireworks show on Wednesday night.
Residents lined up between Valley Grande Baptist Church and Valley Grande Sportsplex to watch fireworks sail in the night sky.
Councilwoman Sara Day, in charge of special events, apologized for the 15-minute delay in the show scheduled to start at 9 p.m. City residents ignored Day’s apology and enjoyed the show.
“Sara Day is such a hardworking person working for the City of Valley Grande, I love her and everything she does for the community,” Kristy Dilliard said.
Day, in her first term as councilwoman, said she loves doing special events for city residents.
“Our annual fireworks show is a great event that allows us to come together as a community and celebrate our nation’s birthday with our friends, family, and neighbors,” Day said. “It fills me with joy to see so many come out and enjoy a nice summer evening in Valley Grande.”
Dallas County Commissioner Vivian Rogers appeared at the event and proudly spoke to residents about the goings-on in the community.
Dallas County Animal Control, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Valley Grande Volunteer Fire Department, and Summerfield Fire and Rescue were all on hand to help with the fireworks show.
