Selma Fireman involved in Sunday murder

The Selma Police Department is investigating a murder of a white man involving a Selma Fireman that took place on Sunday night.
According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, SPD officers responded to the 2100 block of Minter Ave. in reference to a gunshot victim around 9:36 p.m. Sunday. Fulford identified the victim as Prattville resident Larry McGowan, 61.
“Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered a white male on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds,” Fulford said. ”
Fulford said the victim was transported to the Vaughn Medical Center’s emergency room by ambulance and later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Selma Fireman Benjamin Jackie , 27, was taken into custody on the scene and arrested. His bond is set at $1.5 million.
No further details are being released at this time as the case remains under investigation.
