A missing Perry County man was found dead and partly burned on Monday in Dallas County.
A woman and a man, both from Perry County, are facing charges related to the incident.
According to Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum and Perry County Sheriff Billy Jones, the body of Christian Moore, 23, was found burned inside his vehicle in Valley Grande. The truck was found burned on County Road 230.
Granthum said that Moore was visiting a Selma woman, Artavis Thomas, 24, at a location, possibly in Perry County. Granthum added that another man, Anthony Finney, 30, of Selma, was also at the location, leading to an altercation between the two men. Granthum said Finney and Moore got into a vehicle, while Thomas followed behind in another vehicle. The drive led to County Road 230 in Valley Grande.
DCSO discovered the vehicle burned badly with Moore inside. Thomas was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence, first-degree criminal mischief and abuse of a corpse. An arrest warrant is out on Finney for the same charges as Thomas.
Granthum said the body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to determine the cause of death. Based on that outcome, additional charges could be filed.
“We’re looking at this as a murder investigation,” Granthum said. “Moore’s body has been sent to forensics. We’ll know if he was shot or stabbed.”
Moore is from Newbern, a town located in Hale County. He had been reported missing since July 11.
