The AGAPE Community Economic Development, Inc. will apply to the United States Department of Agriculture for a housing preservation grant and wants input from Anderson Avenue residents.

AGAPE CED plans to obtain what citizens want for housing needs on Anderson Ave. Citizens are being asked to submit ideas and give comments that will assist in improving the neighborhood. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 19 and sent to AGAPE CED, P.O. Box 2534, Selma, Al. 35072.

“The Anderson Avenue neighborhood needs local participation to reflect the true desires of the community and comments related to the proposed project application,” AGAPE President Dr. Johnny Cunningham said.

The housing rehabilitation assistance of low-income owner-occupied homes on Anderson Ave. is eligible for funding.

If AGAPE CED receives the housing preservation grant, a public will be held to explain the application process.  A certified housing rehabilitation inspector and independent building inspector will conduct the final inspection.

All rehabilitation work will be done by a general contractor licensed in the state of Alabama. A grant administrator will work with other private agencies with rehabilitation assistance. No displacement of residents will be proposed during the inspection.
