Dallas County represents, but North sweeps All-Star games

The North swept the South in Tuesday’s AHSAA All-Star basketball games at the Multiplex In Montgomery.

The North won the boys’ game 97-85 and took the girls’ contest 87-46, completing the two-game sweep.

North Boys 97, South 85

The North overcame a 50-44 halftime deficit with a strong second half to prevail. Jayden Williams of Ramsey scored 21 points and DeMarcus Williams of Fairfield added 15. Desmond Williams finished with 17 points to earn South MVP honors. 

Dallas County provided bright spots for the South. Keith guard Miles Hannah had nine points. Dallas County guard Josh Davis III had seven. Selma guard Tristin Blocton finished with four points and assists.

Keith boys coach Marcus Turner said he’s proud of Hannah.

“This is a part of the standard we set for our student-athletes at Keith and I’m extremely proud of him,” Turner said.

North girls 87, South 46

The North continued its dominance in the series, cruising to an easy victory. The North has won 24 of 27 games in the series. Good Hope guard Ava McSwain scored 16 points and earned North MVP honors.

Park Crossing’s Siniya Jackson scored 16 points to earn South MVP honors.

The two Dallas County participants in the girls’ game, Keith’s JaKayla Moore and JyKierra Oliver of Selma, did not score a point in the contest. 

Keith girls head basketball coach Cecil Williams said he was grateful to see his second player compete in the contest.

“Words can’t express how proud I am of her for the work Moore has done so far for this accomplishment,” Williams said.
