The Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee will be hosting its annual cookout to commemorate the Voting Rights Act Tuesday afternoon at the Songs of Selma park located at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge.
The event will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The park is located at 7 U.S. Hwy. 80 in Selma. The event is free and open to the public. Free food will also be available.
The Voting Rights Act was signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson on August 6, 1965. Tuesday marks the 59th anniversary of that legislation being enacted.
