Orrville resident selected to Alfa Foundation Scholarship program

Orrville resident Hannah McHugh is the latest Dallas County resident named to the 2024-25 Alfa Foundation Scholarship Program.
McHugh graduated from Maplesville High School last year. McHugh is currently a freshman at Southern Union State Community College majoring in speech, language and hearing sciences, She received $1,000 for tuition, fees, books or supplies.
McHugh is a cousin of Keenan McHugh, a 2023 graduate of Morgan Academy and two-time Selma Times-Journal volleyball player of the year.
Scholarships were awarded based on grade point average, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience and future goals. To qualify, students must be enrolled in a full-time accredited program at a two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the state.
“We are proud to support this outstanding group of students as they further their education within the state of Alabama,” Alfa Insurance president Jimmy Parnell in a statement. “It’s important to us as an organization to invest in our young people, and we are happy to do so through the Alfa Foundation Scholarship Program.”
