No Dallas County school is ranked in the preseason Alabama Sports Writers Association high school football rankings released Wednesday.

Local residents expect Southside-Selma will be the area’s best football team, but the Panthers only received votes in the Class 3A poll. The Panthers are coached by Charles Moody.

Southside, led by All-State twins Derick Smith and Erick Smith, will be the best team in Dallas County this season.

Southside coach Charles Moody said he’s not concerned about the rankings.

“We just have to play ball, but I see a lot of people are noticing us,” Moody said.
