Northside nips Selma in OT

Northside rallied from a 20-0 deficit to defeat the homestanding Selma Saints 26-20 in overtime Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

The Saints (3-1, 1-1) will host Demopolis (1-2, 1-0), who defeated Montevallo 40-7 on homecoming Friday, next week.

Selma got on the board first with a 90-yard touchdown pass 9:56 mark of the first quarter. The 2-point try failed.

At the 3:44 mark of the first quarter, Selma scored again on an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown. The pass for 2 was good, giving Selma 14-0 lead.

Two plays into the second quarter, Selma added a 20-yard touchdown run. The try for two failed, but Selma led 20-0 at the 11:11 mark of the second quarter.

However, Northside came back, scoring three touchdowns, the final score coming at the 3:52 mark of the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

The game was delayed due to lightning until nearly 10:30 p.m. However, Northside was able to score the game-winning touchdown in overtime during the downpour while holding the Saints.
