Ellwood Christian ran into a touch matchup with Central-Hayneville, as they fell 44-6.
The Eagles will return to action next week as they will travel to Billingsley.
Head coach Ray Blanks they kept it close for a while.
“It’s one of those games where you come into and you play a good game, and then eventually the best team is going to win,” Blanks said. “We haven’t played high school football since 2019, so we’re just not back into swinging things. I’ve got a bunch of young kids. We’re still teaching. We’re still learning. The best part about it, I have my whole team back next year. I’m not losing anybody.”
Michael McKenzie scored the lone touchdown for Ellwood, but it wasn’t enough.
