The Town of Valley Grande is inviting community members and visitors to its fourth annual fall festival at the Valley Grande Walking trail at 298 County Road 16, starting Saturday at 9 a.m.

The festival is a family fun day for the citizens of Valley Grande, according to City Councilwoman Sara Day who is the chairperson the event.

“The reason we started to do this event each year is because we have a very nice walking trail in Valley Grande, and it’s a perfect location for an event like this. We just wanted to do something for our citizens to enjoy,” Day said. “From the first year, we’ve done it, it has been a great success, so we decided to continue to do it.”

On the trail grounds, there will be many festive events happening from a hay ride, a barrel train to face painting, including balloon artistry and an array of activities to entertain the kids within the community.

Mayor David Wayne Labbe said he feels good about the event and said it’s going to be bigger and better than it has been since the last three years.

“We’ve got somewhere in the neighborhood above 40 vendors coming in,” said Labbe. “That’s mixed vendors including four or five food trucks, serving different types and variations of food. Then, we are going to have right at 40 vendors in the park selling different things. And, we are having our pumpkins like we did last year.”

Day said mostly everyone who participates within the event is a resident of either Valley Grande, Selma or the Dallas County area including the three musicians they have for the day to perform for one hour each.

“Our opening act that is going to sing is Will Langford,” Day said. “He will play from 9 to 10 a.m.” “Then I have Mac Spencer and he will play from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and our last act is Philip Morgan, who will play from 12 to 1.”

Day said she encourages everyone within the Valley Grande, Selma and Dallas County community to come to the event and is hopeful that it’s going to be a great, beautiful day to enjoy the park.
