Several members of the community including churches within the area have chosen to give back for the Thanksgiving holiday season.

Earlier within the month, the Agape Community Economic Development, Inc., hosted a food giveaway event to feed the community just before the holiday season started to roll in.

Selma Pastor John E. Grayson of Gospel Tabernacle COGIC Church and his congregation alongside other members within the community also held their Thanksgiving food box giveaway as well at Bloch Park for residents in need who possibly wouldn’t have a meal for the holiday season.

Items such as meat, vegetables, including bread were given out at the event.

Closer to the day of Thanksgiving, Restoration Place Church and an organization called “It’s all God” Street Ministry hosted a thanksgiving dinner Saturday, Nov. 23rd at the Good Samaritan Center in Selma, providing quality thanksgiving meals to those in the community this season who were in need.

“Over 100 community members were fed,” said Seth Williams, Founder and Evangelist of Higher Love Ministries. “And, 30 community members gave their lives to Christ as well. “

Also, on that same day, Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Valley Grande participated in the season of giving by donating turkeys to the Selma and Valley Grande community from 11 a.m. up until there were no supplies left in honor of the festive holiday season.

Just before Thanksgiving, Faith Church Selma Outreach is giving free food away, starting at 9 a.m., so families within the area can have and host a nice thanksgiving celebration for their family and friends.
