The Time has come around again for the festive Christmas holiday season and a city close to Selma called Minter is kicking off its 25th annual Millennium Christmas parade this weekend on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Resident and parade organizer Margaret Fails said the lineup for the parade will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the parade will officially start at 10 a.m. on Dallas County Road 4.
Fails said currently, the parade committee is looking for several participants to be a part of Saturday’s big event so it can be successful and a much bigger turnout than the previous years before.
Fails said she is extremely happy about the parade happening soon and said she is proud of the parade committee’s continued effort to have it for the community.
“There’s never been anything like that in this area before we started doing it as a community,” said Fails. Over the years, people have come home for it, just like it’s a homecoming here.”
According to a Selma Times-Journal article last year, the 2023 parade was the first parade since 2019
Fails said she is actively trying to get Southside High School to participate in this year’s parade including Selma High School as well if they are able to do it along with community members and different churches within the area who can bring decorative floats and their festive holiday cheer.
Fails said those who are interested in being a part of the parade can reach out to her directly at 334-419-3457 or 334-419-4612.
