270 power outages remain locally from overnight storms

Alabama Power issued a statement Sunday morning stating that about 270 customers are without power in Dallas County as a result of severe thunderstorms that moved through the area last night.

As of 10 a.m., Michael Keith Jordan, spokesperson for Alabama Power, said 4,290 Alabama Power customers are without service in central Alabama as a result of overnight severe weather.

“Reports of damage include multiple broken poles and downed wire from fallen trees and large limbs,” Jordan said. “Statewide, there are approximately 16,000 customers without service.”

Outages are concentrated in the following areas:

Montgomery County: 1,700 customers

Lowndes County: 1,100 customers

Tallapoosa County: 500 customers

Lee County: 400 customers

Dallas County: 270 customers

Chilton County: 180 customers

Fewer, widely scattered outages also exist in Perry, Butler, Wilcox, and Bullock Counties.

“Crews are working to restore service as safely and quickly as possible,” Jordan said. “Additional crew resources are also en route to assist.”
