Marjorie Strother Overmyer, age 78, a resident of Linden, died peacefully at her home Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024. She was born Sept. 3, 1946 to Claude and Sarah Strother.

She was an exceptional cook who had the gift of hospitality. She hosted fabulous parties. She was generous, well-traveled and loved the finer things in life. She adored Labrador retrievers, specifically her dogs, Lasleaux, Sugar and Barnsley, who were all her faithful companions.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Howard Overmyer Jr.; daughter, Sarah Strother Perdue (Bruce); son, Hugh Vories Overmyer (Adrienne); and daughter, Kathryn Overmyer Earthman (Webb); grandchildren, John Miller Perdue, James Brittin Perdue, Caroline Overmyer Stephens (Wil), Hugh Henry Overmyer, Sarah Michael Overmyer, Eva Kathryn Overmyer, Rachel Earthman Schindler (Steve), and Ashley Kate Earthman; brother, Claude C. Strother; nieces; nephews; and a host of friends who will all miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Sarah Strother and brother, Bruce C. Strother.
