ALEA identifies victims of Thursday crash

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has released the names of the victims of a single-vehicle crash Thursday night on U.S. 80.

The crash happened at approximately 6:27 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, when the 2006 Toyota Avalon driven by an 18-year-old teen of Wetumpka, left the roadway and struck a tree. The 18-year-old driver was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 17-year-old teen of Selma, Isaiah D. McDade, 19, of Pike Road, and Tyler O. Jones, 19, of Montgomery, who were all passengers in the Toyota, were also fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene.

An additional passenger in the Toyota, Deneco D. Smith, 19, of Montgomery, was injured and transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma for medical treatment and subsequently, was transported to University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital.

The 18-year-old, the 17-year-old, McDade, Jones, nor Smith were using seat belts at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred on U.S. 80 near the 90 mile marker, approximately 10 miles east of Selma city limits, in Dallas County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
