Willis Vinson Wyatt

Willis Vinson Wyatt, 72, of Selma, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Clutts and the Rev. Randy Tanner officiating. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Bertha Ezell Wyatt; and his two sons and daughter-in-laws, Harold (Jennie) Wyatt of Selma and Daryl (Teresa) Wyatt of Louisburg, Kansas. He also leaves behind a sister, Ouida W. Chandler of Plantersville; four grandchildren, Paul Wyatt of Cleveland, Tennessee, Ethan Wyatt of Selma, Ashley and Emily Wyatt of Louisburg, Kansas and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy B. and Ethel Faye Wyatt, sister Mary E. Meyers and brother J.P. Wyatt.

Mr. Wyatt served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Selma Elks Lodge # 167, where he served as Trustee and will be remembered for his work with the BBQ. He was Elk of the Year in 1997-98.

Mr. Wyatt was a long time member of the Alabama Cattlemen Association. He served on the Board of Directors for many years. In 1972 he was president of the Cattlemen’s Association and elected Cattleman of the Year in 1999.

Mr. Wyatt was a long time farmer in Dallas County. He was presently working at the Linden Stockyard in Linden, Alabama.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westwood Baptist Church or the Selma Elks Lodge #167.

Pallbearers will be Paul Wyatt, Ethan Wyatt, Floyd Plummer, Jr., Philip Chandler, Jetty Etheridge, and Marion Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Plummer, Sr., B.B. Pegues, Fred Friday, Billy Morgan, Lee (Sonny) Gibbs, and members of the Elks Lodge 4167.

Lois Jenkins Williams

Lois Jenkins Williams, 83 of Marion, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at a Selma hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.
