Arlene ‘Lee’ Morris

Arlene “Lee” Morris Dunkin of Selma passed away Saturday June 18, 2005 at the age of 91 in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 21,2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Pine Flat Baptist Church with Rev. Rod Rochester officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Dunkin was preceded in death by her husband Thomas F. Dunkin. She is survived by her children, Comer (Opal) Dunkin, Thomas (Charlotte) Dunkin, Norman (Betty) Dunkin and Mary Dunkin all of Selma. Grandchildren, Lisa (Tim) Williams of Selma, Dennis (Beth) Dunkin of Selma, Michelle (Jeff) Richey of Prattville, Scott (Millie) Dunkin of Atlanta, Jeff (Denise) Dunkin of Plantersville, Ryan (Tracy) Dunkin of Selma
and Ashley (Bobby) Horn of Plantersville. She is also survived by fourteen Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Tim Williams, Dennis Dunkin, Jeff Richey, Scott Dunkin, Jeff Dunkin, Ryan Dunkin and Bobby Horn.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday at Selma Funeral Home.
Angeline Evans Wheat
Angeline Evans Wheat, a longtime resident of the Southside Community, died at her home Saturday after an extended illness. She was 78. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elkdale Baptist Church in Selma, with burial in New Live Oak Cemetery.
The Rev. Lee Tate and the Rev. Al Finch will officiate. Lawrence Brown Funeral Home will direct.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lawrence Brown Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, T.A. Wheat Jr., Selma; five sons: Thomas All Wheat III, Gainesville; Mallory Wheat, Selma; Dr. John Wheat, Northport; Jack Wheat, Tampa, Fla.; and Phillip Wheat, Selma; two daughters, Ann Wheat Gault, Opelika, and Susan Wheat Keith, Selma; two sisters, Sue Evans Franklin, Helena; and Rachel Evans Glover, Northport; two brothers, Dale Evans, Windham Springs, and Neal Evans, Northport; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in north Tuscaloosa County, Mrs. Wheat graduated from Gorgas High School, William Rufus King Technical School and Wallace Community College, where she was alumna of the year in 1987. She met her husband during World War II, when he was on leave from the Navy and she was enrolled at Athens College. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2004.
She lived in Dallas County for 35 years. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Farmers Home Administration, Alabama Vocational and Rehabilitation Services, State Department of Toxicology Selma Crime Laboratory and State Employment Service, and was office manager for the Alabama State Troopers Criminal Justice Training Academy when she retired in 1989. In 1980, she was one of 22 Alabamians to earn the status of Certified Professional Secretary.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church at Sardis for many years and of Elkdale Baptist church more recently.
Pallbearers will be Thad Wheat, Jonathan Gault, Jeremy Wheat, K.C. Moreland, Cody Wheat and Duncan Hope. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jimmie Clark, Dr, David Hinton, Dr, Boyd Bailey and Dr. Paul Moore.

Mary Louise Braswell
Mary Louise Braswell, age 74, of Lowndesboro died Saturday June 18, 2005 in a Montgomery hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday June 21, 2005 at Pineview Memory Gardens officiated by Rev. Tony Cannon and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.
She is survived by her sons, Jessie Moss and Rodney Braswell, daughter, Ann Jones, grandchildren, Jessie Moss, Jr., Sherry Moss and Terri Moss, 12 great grandchildren, sisters, Judy Hodo and Lucille Lucker, brothers, Dale Barger, Jr. and Jimmy Marlowe, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nathan I. Braswell. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
