While the Morgan Academy men’s team enjoyed moderate success during the final tune-up meet before next Thursday’s AISA State Championships, the Lady Senators had their hands full with their competition.
As a team Morgan posted a third place finish with a total of 72 points.
Faith Academy posted the victory with 195 points. The only event the Lady Rams didn’t post scores in were the pole vault and the sprint medley – the two events that weren’t contested at the meet.
Mobile Christian finished second as a team with 107 points.
For the Lady Sens though, Katie Taylor finished second in the shot put event and was followed by Elizabeth Elliott with a third place finish.
Aly Bradford posted a second place finish in the 100 meter low hurdles.
Allison Peak posted a third place finish in the 400 meter dash and Anne Larkin Oaks posted a third place in the 3200 meters.
Faith, Mobile Christian and Morgan rounded out the top three for the event, Lee-Scott finished fourth and was followed by Tuscaloosa Academy in fifth.
The AISA state tournament is set to start on Thursday and be contested through Friday.
The event will be held at Selma’s Memorial Stadium and will only have a select group of athletes from each team in AISA competing.
Faith Academy is currently the defending AISA champions on the girls side and the boys side.
The Lady Rams will be the favorites coming into next week’s meet to repeat last year’s success.
