Clifton L. Thomas Jr.

Clifton L. Thomas Jr., 59, of Selma, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at his home.

Services will be held a 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Second M. B. Church with the Rev. Clinton Peoples officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include special companion, Nellie J. Spears of Selma; mother, Louise Thomas of Selma; father, Clinton Thomas Sr. of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Darryl D. Thomas (Sherri) of Selma ad Marcus M. Thomas of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Irene (Walter) Parker and Annie (Rufus) Watkins all of Selma; three grandchildren, Elijah M. Thomas, Marcus M. Thomas II and Nakiria C. Thomas all of Selma.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Alice Snell.

Eldrige B. Boyd

Eldrige B. Boyd, 33, of Dallas County, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, in Dallas County.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Mt. Olive #1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Carrie P. Boyd and Woodrow Johnson; one son, Brandon Jones; one brother, Tyrone Walker; five sisters, Gloria D. Boyd, Sabrina Smith, Coretta Frison, Carolyn Anderson and Erica Boyd; and two brothers-in-law.

Oneida O. Montgomery

Oneida O. Montgomery, 96, of Columbus, Ga., formerly of Selma, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at a nursing home in Columbus, Ga.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 16, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Carroll Plourde officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Michael (Sharon) Montgomery of Jackson, Miss.; one daughter, Frances (Terry) Steele of Columbus, Ga.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Friday, at J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. was born in Beatrice, to the late Bishop and Mary Montgomery. She graduated from Alabama State University, further studies at Albany State University. She was a retired teacher holding life certificates from the State of Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Anglee George

Anglee “Lee” George, 69, of Marion, died

Thursday, April 7, 2005, at a healthcare facility.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Mt. Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Eugene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie George; mother, Adline Blevins George; 10 sons, Lee Oden, Willie George, Frank George, Anglee (Annette) George Jr., Greg, Curtis and Casey George, Darrell (Renae) Cole, William Cole and Anglee Hunter; seven daughters, Inez George, Danielle George, Kathleen George, Atline (Henry) Rogers, Gloria Jean Watson, Mary (Jerry) Johnson and Norma Jean Hunter; seven brothers, Willie James (Estella) George, Robert (Ethel) George, Johnny (Rose Mary) George, Wilbert George, Ike George, Elijah George and Lonnie George; eight sisters, Katie Tabb, Annie Pearl (Ronnie) Webb, Adline Carraway, Edith George, Henrietta Walker, Mary Bagby, Carolyn Conner and Lizzie Miner; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two aunts, Oradra Lewis and Magarita Lewis; and one uncle, Westbrook Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie George, a brother, McArthur George, a daughter, Jennifer George and a sister, Gloria George.

Charles Kindred Porter

Charles “C.K.” Kindred Porter, 85, of Greenville, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2005.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Chapel of Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home with Dr. Paul McLendon officiating. Graveside services will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, at 3 p.m. with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing.

Family will receive friends on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Leila Mae Huffman Porter of Greenville; son, John Walter Porter (Sharon) of Huntsville; daughter, Freda Payne Hall (Charles) of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his father, John James Porter and mother, Willie Edna Fountain Porter.

Pallbearers are Clarles Austin Hall Jr., Jason Frazier Hall, Jeff Frazier, John Bradley Porter, Chad Durrance and Chris Sloan.

Honorary pallbearers are Butler County American Legion members.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Vinson Cosby Sr.

Vinson Cosby Sr., 94, of Demopolis, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at a Demopolis hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Frinedship M.B. Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. Henry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Millers Chapel Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Joseph Gracio

Joseph Gracio, 56, of Demopolis, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at a nursing home in Linden, Alabama.

Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, April 16, 2005, at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. Willie Williams and the Rev. E. C. Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Demopolis, with Larkin & Scott Funeral Home directing.
