Albert Thurman Velverton Jr.

Albert Thurman “Al” Velverton Jr., 45, of Mexia, Texas, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, in Axtell, Texas, following injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown, with the Rev. Jim Waters and the Rev. Arthur Noland officiating with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home directors of Demopolis directing.
Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday in Uniontown United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Bolt Yelverton of Mexia, Texas; one step-daughter, Nicole Carter of Mexia, Texas; granddaughter, Madison Thompson of Mexia, Texas; one step-son, James Bolt of Mexia, Texas; parents, Albert Thurman Yelverton Sr. and Annie Pearl Hoggle Yelverton of Uniontown; one sister, Deborah Carlson and husband Greg of Pelham; two nephews, Mark Jefcoat and wife Mandy and their children, Mark Allen Jefcoat and Elle Jefcoat all of Monroeville and Eddie Jefcoat and wife Jodie of Troy.
Mr. Yelverton was born on April 15, 1959, in Selma, formerly of Uniontown and a member of Uniontown United Methodist Church and a resident of Mexia, Texas, for the past 10 years where he was employed by L-3 Communications, an airplane manufacturing company, since 1998 where he served as lead structural mechanic.
The family will accept flowers of donations.
Bertha P. King
Bertha P. King, 89, of Selma, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at a local rehabilitation
center.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at New Center Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy L. Dukes and General Dukes; two daughters, Velma Childers and Clara Dukes Smith; one brother, John Tolbert; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;
one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; nine nephews; 15 nieces; and a host of other relatives.
Active pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of New Center Baptist Church.
Sallie Walker
Sallie Walker, 87, of Selma, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. A. Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary L. Lewis (Jonas), Bertha Martin (Frank) and Geraldine Walker; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are family and friends.
John Parker
John Parker, of Selma, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.
