The Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office Child Support Division, in partnership with the Dallas County Department of Human Resources, recently received a statewide award from the Alabama Department of Human Resources for outstanding performance for the increase in total collections for Category Three.
District Attorney Michael Jackson said he was proud of the staff and all of its accomplishments.
“Our staff has won several statewide awards in the last few years,” Jackson said. “They have a great working relationship with DHR. Our paternity establishment has increased to more than 90 percent.”
The Child Support Division of the Fourth Judicial Circuit works with the Alabama DHR in the establishment of paternity; establishment of an order of support; to seek modification of an existing order; establish and/or enforce a medical support obligation; and establishment of an income withholding order on all child support cases.
The division also helps prosecute cases for non-support and are able to collect the current child support along with payments toward the arrears through income withholding, garnishments, liens, and tax offset. We are not, by contract, allowed to deal with issues of custody and/or visitation.
