Audrey Mae Cherry

Audrey Mae Cherry, 76, died Saturday, January 29, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2005, at the Chapel of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Chilton County

She is survived by sisters, Magic Fay Phelps and Olivia Perdue both of Phoenix, Ariz., nine nephews; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lundy Cheny and Pearl Cherry, brothers, Marvin L. Sr., Peyton, Calvin Morris and Nelson Cherry.

Family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the American Heart Association.

Miss Cherry retired from the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources after 31 years service and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Willie Whetstone

Willie “DUB” Whetstone, 83, of Autaugaville, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at

his home.

A Mass of Christian burial, celebrated by Father Philip McKenna, will be held at 12 noon, on Thursday, February , 5, from St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, with Prattville Memorial directing.

Mr. Whetstone was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. Prior to joining R. L. Zeigler Packing Company in Selma, from which he recently retired after 52 years of service, he owned and operated a family grocery store and cattle farm in Autaugaville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Maude Whetstone and Della Dobbins Whetstone; one daughter, Melissa Ann Whetstone, two brothers, David D. Whetstone Sr. and Henry Maude Whetstone Jr. and one sister, Emma Lewis Gober.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy Edwards Whetstone of Autaugaville; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Michele Whetstone of Ft. Payne and Michael and Melanie Whetstone of Prattville; six grandchildren, Brittany Whetstone, Melissa Whetstone, Tyler Whetstone, Megan Whetstone, Kristen Whetstone and Nancy Whetstone; two sisters, Mae, Dickinson of Prattville and Alise (Herbert) Carmichael of Autaugaville.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Phillip Whetstone, William Lee Whetstone, Allen. Fancher, George Baker, Jerry Starnes, Tom Skaggs, Otto Motley and David Ruff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hinton, Lackey Stevens, employees of R. L. Zeigler Packing Company, Skip Gentle, Will E. Andrews, Carl Johnson, Melvin Mahan, Bobby Shockleford, Larry Puckett, Mark Barnett, Dr. Kevin Coady, Dr. David Morrison and Staff, General English, Al Booth, and the Knights of Columbus from St. Joseph Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1280 Huie Street, Prattville 36066, or to Wiregrass Hospice of Selma, 200 Central Park Place, Selma, AL 36701.
