In order to come up with a split of the season series with Morgan Academy, the Meadowview Christian School Lady Trojans need only look inside.

Meadowview Christian School forward Haley McIntyre scored 10 of her game-high 30 points in the fourth quarter and the Lady Trojans escaped with a 42-36 win Tuesday night over the host Morgan Academy Lady Senators.

McIntyre took advantage of a mismatch inside created when Morgan forward Elizabeth Elliott picked up her fourth foul near the end of the third period.

From there, McIntyre was able to get the open looks that had eluded her for much of the game.

McIntyre weaved through the smaller Lady Senators defense for an easy lay-up to open the fourth quarter and give the Lady Trojans a 28-24 lead.

“We knew when Elliott got her fourth foul that she couldn’t be as aggressive as she normally would,” MCS coach Mike Cassebaum said. “When Haley got that mismatch, we just wanted to get the ball inside to her. We didn’t play very well, but we played just good enough.”

McIntyre also did her damage from the foul line. She sank six free throws in the final period, including four consecutive that gave the Lady Trojans a 39-31 advantage with 2:52 remaining.

Ali Bradford stole an MCS inbound pass for a quick lay-in that cut the margin with 41-36 with 1:17 to go.

But Morgan Academy missed its last four shots and had another blocked by Elyse McIntyre with 34.7 seconds to go.

“Defensively, we played pretty well,” Morgan Academy coach Robert Gartman said. “They only had 42 points and the bulk of that came from the free-throw line.”

In fact, Haley McIntyre was 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the first half. She had 15 points at intermission.

However, McIntyre did the most with her few open looks. She hit a three-pointer from the left wing that gave the Lady Trojans a 17-10 lead. Meadowview Christian enjoyed a 21-16 at halftime.

Morgan Academy was led by Katie Taylor with 15 points and Candace Ward with eight.
