Lady Saints route Anniston

Five players scored in double figures Saturday night and the Selma High School Lady Saints routed host Anniston, 83-50.

Santana Seay led the Lady Saints (7-2, ranked seventh in the state Class 4A girls’ poll) with 18 points. Erica Lumpkin, Shameka Simpson and Ashley Green added 16 points apiece and Gabrielle Goudy chipped in 15.

In boys’ action, the Selma High School Saints dropped to 3-4 on the season following a 61-50 loss to Anniston.

The Saints were led by John Dailey with 20 points and Eric Martinear with nine.

Selma will be home Tuesday night to entertain Keith. The boy’s junior varsity game will tip off at 5 p.m.

MCS girls lose

to Dixie

A late rally by the Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans fell short Saturday night in a 44-39 loss to Dixie Academy in the title game of the Edgewood Academy Christmas Tournament.

The loss came one day after the Lady Trojans upset host Edgewood, 47-40, to make it to the championship. It was Edgewood Academy’s first loss of the season.

“We couldn’t get over the hump from our big win Friday night,” MCS coach Mike Cassebaum said. “We didn’t play with any emotion. We came out flat.”

Haley McIntyre led the lady Trojans with 12 points and nine rebounds. Casey Burton followed with 10 points, while Carol Ann McIntyre and Elise McIntyre chipped in seven and six points, respectively.

Haley McIntyre and Elise McIntyre were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Woods lead CCA Warriors to win

Tee Woods scored a game-high 23 points and the Central Christian Academy Warriors coasted to a 60-25 win over Shelby Academy late Saturday night in the Autauga Academy Christmas Tournament.

Woods also pulled down 10 rebounds for the Warriors. Jerome Deese tossed in 10 points and had six rebounds, and Felix Baker also had 10 points. Bud Smith chipped in eight points in the victory.
