Delta Sigma Theta to present an afternoon of entertainment

The Selma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will present “An Afternoon of Elegant Entertainment Sunday, Dec. 19 at the Performing Arts Center from 3-5 p.m.
Featured talent will include John Thrash and Joyce Jackson, classical piano; Jonicia Solomon and Erica Barnes, creative dance; Donna Brown, vocal music. The Selma High School Chorale and the Selma Youth Development Dance Troupe will also perform.
Visual art created by area school students will be on display. Winners will be recognized and awarded prizes.
The Arts & Letters Committee chaired by Mrs. Dorothy Brown has planned this artistic event to showcase Selma’s talented youth and provide citizens a cultural experience as a gift during the holiday season.
Joyce Jackson is a 10th grade student at Selma high School, where she plays on the Lady Saints Basketball Team. She is a musician at Brown Chapel AME Church and a member of the Selma High Choir. She is the daughter of James and Mary Jackson.
John Thrash is a 2004 honor graduate of Selma High School, whose avocation is concert pianist and his career choice physician. He is a music pre-med major at University of Alabama Birmingham, and the son of John and Frances Thrash.
Jonicia Solomon is a 15-year student of Laura School of Dance and captain of Stingettes/ Alabama State University Marching Band. She is a junior marketing major and the daughter of John and Mamie Solomon.
Erica Barnes is a ninth grade student at Selma High School and a contestant in Miss Junior America Pageant in Atlanta 2004. She is a dance student at Margie’s Dance Center and the daughter of Bruce and Dorothy Barnes.
Selma High Chorale is directed by Mrs. Latresha Woods.
Selma Youth Development Dancers are directed by Frank Hardy.
