Arthur Leon Cooper
Arthur Leon Cooper, 83, resident of Deatsville died Monday, November 8, 2004 at a Montgomery hospital.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2004 in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. W.N. “Sonny” Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Treva D. Cooper of Deatsville; two daughters, Cathy Golden and her husband Jim of Milton, FL and Betty Longshore and her husband Charlie of Clanton; one stepson, Richard Henninger and his wife Mary of Millbrook; six grandchildren, Brian Golden and his wife Liz of Slocomb, AL, Sarah Ward and her husband James of Gainesville, FL, Trey Longshore and his wife Debbie of Clanton, Olivia Strickland and her husband Robert of Minter, Kristine Mantel and her husband Philip of Montgomery, and Lisa Henninger of Millbrook; five great-grandchildren, Emily Strickland, Patrick Golden, Asa Ward, Ashley Ward, Mary Pruitt Mantel; one brother, Edward A. Cooper; and one sister, Maxine Johnson.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Kynard Cooper.
Active pallbearers include Trey Longshore, Robert Strickland, Philip Mantel, Noel Cooper, Brian Golden, and Bucky Buchannan.
Honorary pallbearers include Jim Golden, Charlie Longshore, Richard Henninger, Jr., Otha B. Moore, Rocky Rance, Patrick Golden, Jimmy Hardy and James Ward.
The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2004.
Vera Nichols
Vera Nichols, 77, of Selma, AL died Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at her sons’ residence.
Funeral plans will be announced later by Selma Funeral Home.
Aubrey Grant
Aubrey Grant, 85, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 8, 2004.
Mr. Grant was well known as a cattle farmer most of his life. He was a very long and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Louise.
Other survivors include one daughter, Terresa Grant Logan; two sons, Terry and Wayne Grant; one sister, Nell Castle; five grandchildren, Brandy Stoker, Sherry Grant, Aubrey Wayne Grant III, Laura Lee and Anna Clair Logan; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Stoker, Jr. and Kyle Stoker; and several nieces and nephews.
Chapel Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00. Burial to follow in Oakview Cemetery in Lowndesboro, AL.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles and Danny Turner, Gary Julian, William Richardson, Lee Julian, Grant Julian, Jim Turner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Clyde Luster.
Leon F. “Fred” Middleton, Jr.
Leon F. “Fred” Middleton, Jr., 76, of Palmerdale, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2004. He was born in Collirene, AL (Lowndes County) where he grew up. Fred served in the United States Air Force during WWII. After discharge he moved to Birmingham where he retired form American Cast Iron Pipe Co. (ACIPCO) after 34 years of service. Also after the move to Birmingham, he met the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Katherine Hardy Middleton. Fred was a member of Palmerdale United Methodist Church where he served on the Board and was active in Carpenters for Christ and Food Pantry Mission. He lived in the Palmerdale Community for 45 years.
He was a loving husband, father, Da to his grandchildren, brother and friend.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy; three sons, Fred III (Sandra), David (Lynn), and John (Rhonda); one brother, Robert S. (Anita) of Pensacola, FL; and six grandchildren, Meleah, Chase, Brooke, Lauren, Sydney, and John Michael.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with Bro. Barry Hallman and Bro. Robin C. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Palmerdale United Methodist Church Building Fund. Ridout’s Trussville Chapel is directing.
Margaret Ann Tait Wilson
Margaret Ann Tait Wilson, 67, of Pensacola, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2004 at a local hospital.
Born May 5, 1937 in Camden, Alabama she was a resident of Pensacola for the past twenty years. She worked thirty years for the Department of Defense and retired from the Naval Supply Center at NAS Pensacola. She was a lively person who enjoyed ballroom dancing and being with her family and friends. She attended Perdido Bay United Methodist Church and was a life long member of Gulletts Bluff Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter E. and Edna Tait; brothers, James Everett, Joel Everett and Richard “Mickey” Tait.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Stone and her husband Robert of Pensacola Beach and Martha Leah Wilson of Pensacola; her brother, Porter E. Tait, Jr.; four sisters, Martha T. Jones, Pauline T. D’Alessio, Laura T. Carr and Doris T. Locklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Gulletts Bluff Baptist Church in Camden, AL. Burial followed at Reaves Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers included her nephews, James Tait, Albert Tait, Ted Tait, Rick Tait, Mike Jones, Chuck Locklin and David McDaniel.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
