Eva Louise Edwards
Eva Louise Edwards, of Dallas County, died Monday, October 4, 2004.
Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 10, at Elbethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe J. Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivor include three sons, Eugene Edwards, Fulton Edwards Jr. and Maurice Edwards all of Selma; two daughters, Rosemary Watts of Selma and Rhonda Hays of Dallas, Texas; sons-in-law Herman Watts and Carl Hays; one brother, Burnell Bettis of Selma; one sister, Bettye McNeil of Arlington, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one brother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
Mrs. Edwards served as secretary at Elbethel Baptist Church for 52 years.
Oliver D. Harville Sr.
Oliver D. Harville, Sr. of Selma, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. J.C. Summers officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Frances B. Harville; one son, Oliver Harville Jr. of Selma; eight daughters, Barbara Brown (Nathaniel) of Birmingham, Iris Neely (Napoleon) of Selma, Angela Scott (Raytheon I) of Montgomery, Sharon Cook (Eric), Kim Harville, Louise Harville, Kimberly Harville (Johnny) and Jacinta Hallville all of Selma; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, George A. Harville; six sons-in-law; one brother-in-law, Percy Bonner; and three aunts.
Mr. Harville was born on Sept. 15, 1927, to the late Rev. O.T. and Eola Harville.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Isabella Baptist Church in Tyler. After his retirement he later joined Greater St. Paul. He retired from the United State Navy after serving for 21 years. He was also retired from the Alabama State Employment Service in 1990.
Mr. Harville was joined in holy matrimony to Frances Bonner Harville on Nov. 7, 1953. Eleven children was born to this union with two preceding him in death, Terri Harville, Jan., 1963 and Sheila Harville Hawkins (Stephen) in May of 2000.
Joe Nathan Arrington
Joe Nathan “Book” Arrington, 56, of Marion, died Sunday, September 26, 2004.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Marion, with the Rev. C.A. Billingsley officiating and Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.
Mallie Foster
Mallie Foster, 95 of Marion, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at a Selma hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Lee & Rollins Funeral Home.
Wade Brown
Wade Brown, 60, of Selma, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at his daughter’s home.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 10, at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church, Tyler, with Dist. Elder Lover J. Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include mother, Essie Mae Brown; two sons, Curtis Brown and Anthony Brown; one daughter, Lenora Barnes; brothers, James Brown, Johnny Brown, Amos Brown and Ray Brown; sisters, Betty Sigler, Ada Steele, Willie Colon, Lillian Blackmon, Sarah Rudolph and Dorothy Brown; seven grandchildren; two daughters-in-law; one son-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives.
Janie Rodgers
Janie Rodger, of Selma, died Saturday, October 9, 2004. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.
Ida Colburn Coleman
Ida Colburn Coleman, 93, of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Marion, died Friday, October 8,2004 at her home.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Pineview Assembly of God with the Rev. Stephen More and the Rev. Kenneth Sanders officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the church before the service.
Survivors include four sons, Alan J. Coleman (Nita) of Lismon; Roger L. Coleman (Sylviane) of Thorsby, Verron W. Coleman (Doris) of Northport, and R.L. Coleman, Jr. (Betty) of Marion; two daughters, Dorothy C. Ables of Northport and Hazel C. Johnson (Gene) of Cottondale; one sister, Ada C. Smith of Northport; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers are Robert Hoggle, Ricky Coleman, David Coleman, George Johnson, Rod Coleman, Jimmy Hoggle, Jerrod Washington, and Tim Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pineview Assembly of God, Rt. 1 box 208-A, Marion, Ala.
Ezra Earl Mangum
Ezar Earl “Buddy” Mangum, 64, of Selma, died on Saturday, October 9,2004 at his residence.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Selma Funeral Home.
Services are at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with the Rev. George K. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Memorial Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Mangold Mangum of Selma; son, John (Mary) Mangum of Idaho Springs, Col.; brother, William Tice of Selma; three sisters, Jean Tice Dearman of Selma, Rudy Tice of Shreveport, La., and Wilma Mangum of Vicksburg, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Megan Mangum; a number of nices and nephews.
“Buddy” Mangum was a member of the VFW, American Legion and a Sergeant of the Vietnam Conflict.
The honorary pallbearers will be members of the Local VGW.
IN lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
