The Black Belt Community Foundation will hold a Community Awareness Grant Seekers Workshop on Thursday, March 1 at 6 p.m. inside the Hank Sanders Technology Building at Wallace Community College-Selma.
Only community organizations a part of BBCF’s 12-county service area are eligible to apply for the grants.
BBCF arts coordinator Kristin Law said attending the workshop is very important for those seeking grants.
“It actually is a requirement for all organizations applying for a BBCF grant to attend one of these community awareness grant seekers workshops,” Law said. “There will be information provided at these workshops about changes in our grant requirements and process, along with additional valuable information for Black Belt area nonprofits.”
Through the grants program, BBCF seeks to engage community leaders and regional nonprofits to improve the environment, enhance educational opportunities, provide needed health services and opportunities for area youth, support the arts and community economic development and provide for other areas of need, identified by the communities.
Law said there will only be one round of grant workshops this year, which will cover Black Belt Arts Initiative, or BBAI, Arts grants and Community Grants.
