Some days it just pays to be lucky.

Kim Thrasher showed up at Moore-Stewart Ford Saturday morning with a 1-in-20 shot of winning a new Ford Focus.

She sat and waited as 18 other contestants were eliminated leaving her in the final two.

“I was nervous and at the same time I was saying please let it be me,” the single mother of two said.

It was her. Thrasher’s luck held and she drove away with the Focus with a sticker value of $18,900.

“I don’t know if I should drive it home, I’m so nervous,” she said.

Thrasher was one of 200 people lucky enough to be selected for the chance to win the car.

She filled out a form at Captain’s Corner Exxon and the next day she got a call telling her she was one of the 200.

“I said I’d never win a car but I’d win something, it would be fun,” she said.

Over a period of weeks, the field was whittled down from 200, which each participant winning a prize, until the final 20 were left to compete for the car at Moore-Stewart.

Co-sponsor Dixie-100 covered the exciting event as the names dwindled and Thrasher drove away the winner.

“The first person I called was my boss lady,” she said. “She believes in blessings.”

Thrasher and her two children, Patrick, 5, and Courtney, 23 months should be believers now as well.
