John E. Murphy

John E. Murphy, 58, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Marion with the Rev, Lovell Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Lee & Rollins Funereal Home directing.

Emma Sue Hopkins Neville Nelson

Emma Sue Hopkins Neville Nelson, of Huntsville, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at a hospital in Huntsville.

Services were held in Huntsville on Saturday, May 1.

Survivors include son, John Neville of Huntsville; daughters, Vivian Neville Jones and Christina Neville both of Huntsville; mother, Virginia Bender Harrison of Selma; grandsons, Nicholas Jones and Cameron Sharpe of Huntsville; sister, Edwina Day of Monroeville; and brothers, Herman E. Hopkins, James Lee Hopkins and Edwin Harrison.

Carolyn Little

Carolyn Little, 84, of Georgiana, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, a nursing

home in Georgiana.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Ashley Faulk officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include daughter, Myra Wright of Evergreen; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Judy Jeffcoat of Evergreen; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; sister, Mary Simpson of Columbus, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ford Wright and a daughter, Bonnie Holst.

H.A. Rawlins

H.A. Rawlins, 75, died Friday, April 30, 2004.

Graveside services are at 1 p.m.

Monday, May 3, in Dublin, Ga., with Adams Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie Wade Rawlins of Pensacola, Fla., and Ricky (Darlene) Rawlins of Selma; one daughter, Patsy Ann Bearheart of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Tennys (Nita) Rawlins of Dublin, Ga.; one sister, Betty (Bob) Messinger of Omaha, Neb.; and one great-grandchild, Cassie Nicole Hobbie.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Mark Arnold Stone.

Beatrice W. McLaughlin

Beatrice W. McLaughlin, 91, of Marion, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at a nursing home in Marion.

Margaret Watts, formerly of Marion, died at a Green County hospital.

Ilona A. Phillips

Ilona A. Phillips, 61, of Ozark, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at a Dothan hospital.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Pinckard United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Davitz officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Arthur Phillips, Ozark; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas D. and Claire Phillips, Pinckard; two daughters, Anita Phillips of Ozark, Sandra Payne, Germany; three grandchildren, Marie Phillips of Pinckard, Jonathan Payne and Jennifer Payne of Germany; four sisters; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Phillips memory, may be made to the SOS Animal Shelter, Hwy. 84 East, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Mrs. Phillips was born October 25, 1942 in Germany and lived the early years of her life in Frankfurt. In 1961, she was married to Arthur F. Phillips and moved to the United States. During her husband’s military career, she resided in various places around the world.

John B. Hain

John B. Hain, 49, of Roswell, Ga., died Friday, April 30, 2004.

Servies are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Arlington Chapel. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.

Mr. Hain was the son of John Abner and Jane Hayden Hain, both deceased and former residents of Selma, and the grandson of Jessie Bruce Hain and Abbie Dismukes Hain, also deceased and former residents of Sardis.

Survivors include his wife, Joie S. Hain; daughters, Jamie Lynn Hain and Jessica Michelle Hain; sister, Vicki Hain Mattle; nephew John Alexander Mattle.

He was actively involved in the North Fulton Rotary Club and a past Master of the Roswell Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the North Fulton Shrine Club, a member of the Roswell United Methodist Church, and a member of both the Georgia and National Association of Mortgage Brokers. He received a BSBA from Auburn University, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He received an MBA from Mercer University.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Fulton Rotary Club-Centennial Playground Project or the Georgia Masonic Children’s Home.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 3m from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel at 173 Allen Road.

Charles Woodrow Himes

Charles Woodrow Himes, 89, of Selma, died Friday, April 30, 2004 at a local hospital.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, in Old Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Goerge Sedberry officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McKinnon Himes.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly (Kate) Himes; granddaughter, Margaret McKinnon (Pete) Fisher; grandson, Samuel Coleman Himes; step-daughter, Margaret Ann Hain (Ben) Beers; step-grandchildren, Val Hain Beers, Bojie Beers, Ed Beers, Leah Beers Abele.

Active pallbearers will be the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials e made to Church Street Methodist Church.
