Students at Keith High School had the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of possible career choices on Monday during the school’s annual Career Day.

Counselor Jerolene Williams invited numerous guest speakers to visit the school and speak to students about what they do for a living, what qualifications are needed, and the level of education they received.

Students at Keith heard from numerous professionals, including Carolyn Turner, who works at a local dialysis center, and Ocie Cunningham from Alabama Power.

The other guest speakers also hailed from numerous vocations, from firefighters, law enforcement officers, health care professionals, park rangers, and representatives of all branches of the armed services.

Williams said Career Days like these are designed to encourage students to stay in school and maintain academic progress.

Keith High principal Grady Broadnax echoed Williams’ sentiments, saying how important it was to have as many jobs represented as possible.

Each of the guest speakers arrived at the early Monday morning and spent most of the day traveling from classroom to classroom speaking to both middle and high school students.

Each presentation lasted about 10 to 15 minutes and gave students plenty of time to ask questions.

Career Day finally ended just before 3 p.m. with entertainment at the Keith High gymnasium.
