Lady Saints win meet

On Tuesday, the Selma Saints and Lady Saints hosted their first track meet of the year.

The Selma girls placed first overall with a score of 130 points.

Their closest competitor was Sumter County with a score of 62 points.

In the 4 x 800m, Aisha Mujahid, Kimberly Shields, Iva Pearson and Catherine Strong took first with a time of 12:34.

In the 4 x 100m, the team of Elise Minor, Erica Minor, Erica Sampson and Robyn Carter took first with a time of 50.18 seconds.

In the long jump,

Erica Minor took first with a jump of 16′ 8&uot; and Robyn Carter was second with a jump of 15′ 3&uot;.

The Lady Saints swept the 1600m run with Ida Pearson, Catherine Strong and Aisha Mujahid finishing win, place and show.

In the 800m run, it was a Selma sweep again as Shields, Ashley Holmes and Jalisa Maxwell took first, second and third..

E. Minor took first in the 400m run, first in the 200m run and third in the 100m run.

E. Minor took third in the 300m run.

Shamika Walton took third in the shot and fourth in the discus.

Selma swept the 100m hurdles with Dominique Brewer, Quinshea Walker and Tangel Lee taking the honors in order. The Selma boys took second overall.

In the 4 x 800m, the team of Bernard Walker, Horace Brown, Myron Brown and Curtis King took second.

In the shot, Devon Murphy was second and Clarence Walker fifth.

In the discus, Murphy won while Walker was fourth. In the 400m, Brandon Davis took first and Horace Brown won the 800m. Brown took second in the 1600m and 3200m.

Davis won the 100m.

Walker took second in the high jump.

Deundre Benjamin took third in the long jump.

The Selma Track Team has competed in six meets this season with the girls winning six and the boys winning two.

The boys have also finished second in two meets.

Selma will travel to Smith Station this weekend to compete in the sectionals.
