The Selma High Saints baseball team took on the Jeff Davis Vols Friday afternoon at Bloch Park,
falling to the Vols, 12-7.
The Vols took the early lead, 1-0 in the top of the first inning but Selma was quick to answer.
Cajun Pritchett made a connection and knocked in two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Jimmy Smith had a single to center and another run came home.
In the third, the Jeff Davis bats came to life.
With a run on first and two errors by the Saints, Jeff Davis managed to get a pair of runs home.
Again Selma answered.
Quinn Parnell singled and stole second with a textbook slide to avoid the tag.
Donald Steel bunted the runner home over.
A dropped third strike allowed Corey Washington to get to first, but Selma couldn’t bring the runner home.
In the fourth, Rod West hit a blast to leftfield and brought in a Selma run and gave the Saints the lead.
West stole second and third and his cousin, Marcus, drove him home with a single that gave Selma a 6-3 lead.
Jeff Davis battled back in the fifth inning to tie the game with the help of a key Selma error.
Jeff Davis took the win 12-7 in extra innings.
The Vols won 14-4 in the second contest.
