Concordia splits with Tennessee Temple

After suffering an 8-2 loss in the first half of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Bloch Park, the Concordia Hornets rebounded and earned the split with a 7-6 win.
The Hornets, who improved to 10-9 on the season came out hot in the second game.
After falling behind 1-0, they
went to work at the plate.
Joe Beachy led off with a double and Irving Lovingood bunted him to third.
Sid Ware stretched a single into a double and picked up an RBI in the process.
After a strikeout and a walk, Zach Smith gave Concordia a lead when he singled Ware home.
The Hornets extended the lead in the bottom of the second when Josh Gardener led off and reached on an error.
Chad Jones bunted the runner into scoring position and Beachy doubled him home.
Smith went yard in the bottom of the third and the Concordia lead was 4-2.
Temple battled back and tied the game at four, but Concordia responded with two more runs.
An error with the bases loaded allowed Temple to tie the game at six going into the final inning.
Smith doubled and was knocked home by Gardner who smacked the game-winning hit to the outfield for the 7-6 win and the split.
In the first game, Temple scored three runs in the bottom of the first and lead the whole way.
Pete Stephenson singled and scored for Concordia.
Ware added three singles.
