Selmian fails to appear, forfeits bond

A Selma man charged in connection with a shooting at Johnny’s Package Store forfeited his bond when he failed to appear in court on Wednesday.

Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Jack Meigs issued an arrest warrant for Cedric Dewayne Eaton, 17, when he discovered Eaton wasn’t present for his arraignment. Eaton’s bond was $15,000.

Eaton is charged with discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle, discharging a gun into an occupied building, assault first degree and attempt to commit murder. The charges stem from a Jan. 24 shooting at Johnny’s Package Store. Eaton allegedly pulled into the store’s parking lot and began shooting at a blue Suburban.

Two teenage girls received minor cuts from shattered glass and were treated at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. A store clerk received treatment after a bullet grazed his left arm.
